Ryco Filters stay developed to world standards by expanding technical staff

4th December 2009

Australia's leading filter specialist, GUD Automotive, has expanded the number of technical staff at its Tottenham head office. This way, the company says, its growing range of Ryco filters will continue to offer users the very latest world-class standards in quality, performance and durability.

The advanced facility, which includes product design and laboratory testing specialists, has been continuously working at the company's Tottenham site for 50 years. It has always been part of the way Ryco have stayed on top of demand for product ranges to suit oil, fuel, air and cabin filters. The investment is all part of the way the company has ensured its filters meet global O.E standards for the expanding range of vehicles on Australian roads.

The testing laboratory has the latest equipment to fully evaluate life, efficiency and flow with the professional staff running tests to international requirements. This includes ultra-long range durability evaluation on the design and manufacturing of every new Ryco filter.

The line-up of equipment in the GUD lab operates to SAE HS806, SAE 726 and SAE J905A for oil, air and fuel filter testing respectively; on life, efficiency and flow. Individually the apparatus includes a twin head oil filter test rig, an air filter test rig, a multi-purpose rig for evaluating anti-drain back and relief valve testing, hot oil core collapse and burst testing, as well as pressure pulse testing.

"This excellent facility in Melbourne's west is a very vital aspect of the way we can guarantee all our Ryco filters are right up there with the best in the world," says Ryco's Marketing Manager Ross Lamb. "No one else in Australia has got anything like it. We have Australia's only dedicated filtration laboratory.

"Australian conditions are truly unique in many ways and so only those filters which have been designed for these conditions can completely cope long term with our distances and dust. Add those very definite demands to our ability to meet such performances to global standards, and Ryco filters really do have a realistic advantage in the market. And as our ranges have to grow to meet the demands of a growing diversification of vehicles, our expanding technical staff and their facilities ensure we're well ahead of the competition.

"Definitely a case of investing in the creation and maintaining of filter excellence." Ross Lamb said.
