Spring is in the air but for those of you who suffer from allergies like hay fever or asthma spring may not put a ‘spring’ in your step! One of the quickest and easiest ways you can reduce pollens entering your vehicle’s interior cabin is to check to see if your vehicle’s cabin air filter need changing.
The purpose of the cabin air filter is to filter contaminants via the vehicle’s HVAC system. There are two types of cabin air filter available the ‘P’ suffix if for Pollen and the ‘C’ suffix for activated carbon. Each offer great added protection to the respiratory comfort of your passengers.

The benefits of replacing a car’s cabin filter include:
- Protects occupants from allergy causing pollens and bacteria.
- Filters out the road dirt and dust for a cleaner interior.
- Provides cleaner breathing from less respiratory particles.
- Absorption of gases and odours boosts passenger comfort.
Despite these advantages, many cabin filters are not changed at service or not included in the log book servicing intervals which means the vehicle is not giving providing the most comfort for its passengers or people simply don’t know their vehicle has a cabin air filter. Some vehicles are even supplied new with no Cabin Air filter even through there is provision for one which are often overlooked at regular service intervals” says Marketing Communications Manager Melissa Simpson. A good example is the BA/BF Falcon range which has a quickly accessed cabin filter just behind the glove box. Swapping this filter takes around 5 minutes and if you are replacing a used filter it is very easy to see just how effective the filter has been.”
Currently there are over 3 million vehicles inAustraliawith Cabin Air Filters and Ryco has the largest range of cabin air filters available. Check to see if your vehicle is fitted with one in our online catalogue.
